ABOUT OUR HEALTHCARE PATHWAY

Healthcare is the second largest sector in the Detroit region and one of the fastest growing. There is an increasing demand for middle skill healthcare workers and a shortage of qualified candidates. Middle-skill occupations in healthcare provide great opportunities for career advancement and increased earning potential for employees.

Through our partnership with Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI), Hantz Foundation offers a rigorous Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program for parents within the square mile. This intensive 10-week program sets students up for success in their CNA state competency exam and ultimately for employment. Responding to a demand in the marketplace, the Healthcare program was developed to provide a direct link to job placement.

We focus on more than just the technical skills to meet job requirements, we emphasize the harder-to-teach skills of communication, flexibility, and problem-solving so students are prepared for anything

Holistic Approach to Skills Training

Our robust program goes beyond the state requirement of 40 credit hours for certification. We take a holistic approach to career and technical education (CTE), incorporating our Improv program to teach the soft skills essential for career advancement, in addition to the technical skills.

This career pathway is designed to fast-track committed participants to success. When fully invested, it can launch a community member from being unemployed to a supervisor in a mere 18 months. By providing opportunities for high-wage skilled job training in a high-demand industry, we begin to bring greater economic stability to our square mile.
